A new one step urea synthesis system that achieves optimum performance with minimum energy intake and emission generation capable of utilizing atmospheric nitrogen directly. The process inputs are to be limited to ambient air, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, water, and electricity. Unlike prior arts, the urea is synthesized without having to synthesize ammonia as the intermediate (HaberBosch process) and avoids reaction equilibrium rate of 10 to 15%.
The method proposed is unique in many ways. It utilizes a magnetic field to activate the catalyst and it uses nano-size metals or metal oxides as catalyst. Furthermore, the method can be performed in a wide range of temperatures and pressures and will optimize the reaction conditions to maximize urea production. Allowing the reaction to take place at lower temperatures, which is a better suited environment for the urea reaction, increases the catalyst activity, thus the production. A working prototype is located in Malaysia.
